Announcing: Games of 2017

With the holiday season approaching, we once again find ourselves in that magical time when everyone is filled with a festive spirit, spends time with their friends, and floods your timeline with retrospectives of the year gone by. While most game sites have already announced their favorite games of the year, we here at Haywire like to do things a little differently and are still working on putting together the biggest possible list of interesting titles from the last year. So today, I’d like to tell you about our own retrospective: Games of 2017.

Like our previous roundups, this end-of-year list is born from the frustration of seeing weird, unusual, exciting or otherwise interesting games passed over in Game-of-the-Year posts in favor of the same dozen tentpole releases. Sure, 2017 was the year of worthy titles like Mario Odyssey, Nier: Automata, Prey and PUBG, but what about Million Onion Hotel? Or Where The Goats Are? Or Paradigm? Or Butterfly Soup? There are hundreds of deserving games we could put on a list of our favorite games from 2017, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do!

And in order to put together this huge roundup, we need your help. Games of 2017 is open to everyone, just fill out this form if you’d like to add another game to our list and write a few words about what you enjoy about it. Registration is open until January 1st 2018 and you will have another month to finish writing your short laudations before they are due on February 1st 2018. If you are on the fence about signing up, thinking that somebody must have already picked your favorite game or that we wouldn’t be interested in a half-finished game jam game (we are), go ahead and fill out that form just in case. More details through the link!
